A Place to Gather
In Japan, the izakaya is a tavern for the neighborhood. We're bringing that same spirit to Upper King Street at Shokudô with a blend of traditional culinary techniques and a laid-back atmosphere.
Helmed by Chef Partner Masatomo "Masa" Hamaya, our menu is designed for sharing, featuring robata-grilled bites, warm bowls of ramen, crisp tempura, and shareable plates. Each dish is a testament to the seasons, crafted with local produce and honoring centuries-long tradition.

Our menu is built around fire, smoke, and craft. At its heart, the robata grill anchors a menu that honors Japanese traditions while utilizing local and seasonal ingredients. Our bar mirrors this energy with a selection of crisp Japanese beers, playful highballs, and spirits chosen to complement the charcoal and umami at the table.

We welcome reservations in our dining room and walk-ins in our Japanese Beer Garden. Whether it’s a seat at the robata counter, a table among friends, or a late drink in the beer garden, there’s always a place at Shokudô.
Japanese Beer Garden
Step through to the back, and the mood shifts. This is our Japanese Beer Garden, a nod to the best of the lively, late-night izakaya alleys in Tokyo. Here, neon glows, highballs flow, and the energy is a little more spirited.
